This butterfly's wings shine with polished perfection: the sparkling iridium silver paint of the Mercedes Benz car doors evokes thoughts of value, elegance, economic success, and status symbols, as well as freedom and independence. Through appropriation, Lazar Stojić explores the materiality and powerful meanings associated with an industrial object and its design. By integrating the car doors into his work and arranging them in the shape of a butterfly – a symbol of ephemerality – the artist reflects on the transience of design and luxury products while relating them to art, nature and spirituality.
